Di dalam kitab AL- Ghazali, Kimiya As Saadah, ( The Chemistryf of Happiness) ada ditulis mengenai masalah suka dipuji.

” It should be remembered that many people have been destroyed seeking esteem, fame and appreciation of them by the creation ( the people). Many disputes, enmities and sins are caused due to these.”

” The love of esteem and wealth grows hypocrisy in the heart as the water grows greenery”

Di dalam Al-Quran pula, Allah swt berfirman, Al Qasas ayat 83

Negeri akhirat itu, Kami jadikan untuk orang-orang yang tidak ingin menyombongkan diri dan berbuat kerusakan di (muka) bumi. Dan kesudahan (yang baik) itu adalah bagi orang-orang yang bertakwa. AL Qasas 28:83

The essence is that, one should have any proud feeling or, too much of self esteem, while living. As these traits are not the way of happiness.
